Breaking down the array of attacking options at Barcelona

Competition in Barcelona's attack is at its highest level in recent seasons, with recruits and hungry homegrown players giving Xavi many options.

The club have continued their spending spree by signing Jules Kounde, but this was only after making multiple moves to strengthen up front.

Xavi has an immense amount of options for his attack and the coach could design his attack in the dark and would probably be successful.

Glimpses of Dembele's brilliance

Let's start with Ousmane Dembele. The Frenchman, since he arrived at Barcelona, has received as much praise as criticism, as he is inconsistent and injuries don't help.

However, what he did in Dallas against Juventus proves, once again, that if he is inspired he can be peerless on the wing.

Reuniting Aubameyang and Lewandowski

There are different profiles too, such as Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Robert Lewandowski, who previously combined at Borussia Dortmund in the 2013/14 season and scored 44 goals between the two of them.

Against Juventus, in the opening stages of the first half at the Cotton Bowl, they already showed signs that their connection is still alive.

Let's pause for a moment on Lewandowski. The summer's star signing at Barcelona has yet to find the back of the net.

Against the Italians, despite showing signs of his undeniable quality, he looked a little isolated. He has only been with the team for a short time and the chemistry is sure to improve. This monster of the penalty area also threatens to complicate Xavi's line-ups in a big way.

Other players with something to prove

We can't forget about Memphis Depay, even if he is among those tipped to leave the club this summer.

On the American tour, the Dutchman is showing spectacular spirit and commitment. He scored a stunning goal against Inter Miami and came very close to finding the back of the net late on in Dallas.

Raphinha is another genius available to the coaching staff. The Brazilian, formerly of Leeds, seems to have integrated seamlessly into the team.

He has a glove on his foot and against Juventus he proved it again with a shot against the crossbar. He is an addition for the future and also for immediate returns.

The new signings are keen to prove themselves, while Memphis is looking to do similar, and this is matched with the hunger of the homegrown players.

The case of Ansu Fati is the clearest. He has overcome his injuries and has returned like a whirlwind.

The Spain international is convinced, as he himself has said, that he will be back to the player he was before his surgery.

Xavi Hernandez's blackboard

Competition in the attacking department means that the coaching staff are having serious problems in putting together their starting XI.

It's a blessed problem for the Catalan coach, who is delighted with the healthy challenge being created in the squad, especially up front.

In addition, the hope is that the arrival of stars like Lewandowski can help other members of the team to show their best version.

"He's a player who works hard to do very well here too and this is contagious for other players, especially the young ones," was how Juliano Belletti put it in an interview with MARCA in Dallas.
