Ten Hag era kicks off with big Manchester United win over Liverpool

Manchester United began life under Erik ten Hag in perfect fashion with a 4-0 thrashing of arch rivals Liverpool in a friendly in Bangkok, Thailand.

While friendly matches are not a true measure of a team's true level, defeating their bitter enemy in such convincing will have raised morale within the United squad and brought optimism for what lies ahead under the Dutch coach.

Ten Hag fielded a rather strong line-up, albeit without Cristiano Ronaldo in the squad, while Liverpool named five teenagers in his eleven.

United found themselves 3-0 up by half time thanks to goals from Jadon Sancho, Fred and Anthony Martial.

Mohamed Salah and Virgil van Dijk were introduced on 61 minutes but, by that time, the damage had been done.

Young Uruguayan Facundo Pellistri made it 4-0 on 71 minutes to add the icing on the cake for the Red Devils.
