The Jules Kounde transfer saga continues

Sevilla are taking on Sporting CP this Sunday night in a friendly in Lisbon, but Jules Kounde hasn't travelled with the team.

He has stayed at the hotel with a physical trainer as he carries out individual work and as he looks to resolve his future. Despite the uncertainty, he has looked calm at the hotel.

The centre-back is expected to leave Sevilla this summer, after being unable to do so last year, but it's not clear if he'll go to Chelsea or to Barcelona.

It had seemed as though a deal was in place with Chelsea, with the fixed amounts and the structure of the payments all agreed.

However, it hasn't been sealed yet and Barcelona are still waiting to see if they might be able to hijack the move, even though the Catalan club had almost given up hope just a few days ago.

Despite Barcelona's clear interest, the Blaugrana haven't been in touch with Sevilla or made a single phone call about the defender, at least not by the start of Sunday.

Therefore, the saga continues and Kounde is still waiting. He has an agreement with Chelsea for personal terms, while he'd also like to play for Barcelona, and he has spoken with both Thomas Tuchel and Xavi.

Yet, he remains calm and hasn't given Sevilla an ultimatum of any kind. He won't force his way out and the Rojiblancos don't expect him to state that he'd only move to one club or the other.

Sevilla want to resolve this saga as soon as possible, whereas Barcelona know that the longer it drags on the more chance they'll have of securing a deal of their own.
