Messi's other prize is being praised as the GOAT by colleagues and celebrities

Lionel Messi now has the trophy he wanted most, as he has lifted the World Cup in Qatar and completed an enviable and unique list of honours, which only lacked a World Cup.

Now he has it and, with this precious award, it seems that for many the debate about who is the Greatest of All Time (GOAT) is over. It's Messi and no one else.

Praise for the GOAT

One of the first to congratulate Messi was Ronaldo Nazario. The Brazilian, also a World Cup winner, put aside the football rivalry between Brazil and Argentina and paid tribute to Messi with a nice message.

"This man's football banishes any rivalry," Ronaldo stated.

"I saw many Brazilians - and people from all over the world - cheering for Messi in this electrifying final.

"A fitting farewell to the genius who, beyond being the star of the World Cup, led an era. Congratulations, Messi!"

Neymar, Messi's teammate at PSG and a great friend of the Argentine, also left his message for the No.10 on social media.

"Congratulations, brother," he wrote.

Even Barack Obama, former US President, singled out Messi above all others.

"Congratulations to Argentina and the GOAT, Lionel Messi, for their incredible World Cup victory," Obama stated.

Messi's Argentina teammate, Dibu Martinez, shared a meme about Messi being the GOAT.

Is Messi the best athlete ever?

Others went even further and wondered whether, with this World Cup, Messi has become the greatest sportsperson of all time.

The debate was raised by tennis player Andy Murray with a question on his Twitter account.

"Is Messi the best athlete of all time? Forget just football," Murray posted.
