Halep triumphs in the final of Madrid Open

Simona Halep successfully defended her title at the WTA tournament in Madrid.

The Romanian won on Saturday the final against the French Kristina Mladenovic after a hard fight with 7: 5, 6: 7 (5), 6: 2.

Halep, who won this season 22 out of 25 matches on clay, will improve from eighth to fourth place in the WTA rankings.
