Hamilton wins night race in Singapore

Mercedes driver Lewis Hamilton has won the Formula One night race in Singapore. Second on the street circuit was Max Verstappen (Red Bull).

Shortly after the start, Sebastian Vettel (Ferrari) had overtaken Verstappen and pushed behind Hamilton. Due to a collision between Force India pilots Sergio Perez and Esteban Ocon, a safety car phase soon followed. Ocon had to retire from the race. At the restart Hamilton remained ahead, Vettel could not attack.

After the pit stops also Verstappen moved past the German again. In the final stages Vettel, who was unlike his competitors with ultrasoft tires, could defend the third place on the podium, but no longer intervene in the front.

Second was Valtteri Bottas (Mercedes), Kimi Raikkonen (Ferrari), Daniel Ricciardo (Red Bull), Fernando Alonso (McLaren) and Carlos Sainz jr. (Renault).

Charles Leclerc (Sauber) finished ninth in the final classification, Nico Hülkenberg (Renault) in tenth place with one point. The next Formula 1 race will take place in two weeks in Russia.
