El Clasico: Suarez scores hat-trick as Barcelona humiliate Real Madrid with 5-1

FC Barcelona have pushed Real Madrid even worse into crisis in the 238th Clásico. Led by the three-time scorer Luis Suarez, the Catalans defeated their rivals with 5: 1 (2: 0).

The other goals were scored by Philipp Coutinho (11) and Arturo Vidal (87) and Marcelo (50th). Barca continues to lead the table, Real is only ninth with seven points behind. The record champion only got one point from the last five rounds, and coach Julen Lopetegui, who was only brought in in the summer, is likely to be leaving his job soon.

Already the first half was dominated by Barcelona for long stretches. Coutinho had to push the ball in the opening goal after an excellent work by Jordi Alba. Before the 2: 0 Suarez was fouled in the penalty area by Raphael Varane, after a VAR decision, there was a penalty, the Uruguayan scored easily.

In the second half, Real was in a much better shape. Marcelo shortened to 1: 2 and Modric almost succeeded in the 56th minute with the equalizer, but the shot went to the inside bar. Five minutes later, Suarez also hit aluminum. In this phase, the game was at the top, Real even seemed a bit dangerous. But then Suarez struck again after a cross from Sergi Roberto with a worthwhile header (75th).

After that, the Madrilenians fell apart. A serious blunder by Sergio Ramos allowed Suarez to score his third (83 '). Vidal scored with a header (87') after an assist from Ousmane Dembele.

In the first "El Clasico" after nearly eleven years without the injured Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo, who changed to Juventus, the absence of the Argentinean did not really make itself felt.
