Pickleball is considered the fastest growing sport in the country. According to the USAPA - the American Pickleball Federation - there are already over 2.5 million active people and it is estimated that by 2020 it could reach up to 8 million.

Pickleball is a combination of the of badminton, tennis and table tennis. The sport was invented in 1965 by the American deputy Joel Pritchard. The sport is named after his dog Pickle and it is played in singles or doubles.

For one Annapolis resident, a new friend and a chance encounter began his involvement with the game of pickleball which has proven to be a lifeline in his battle with cancer.
