‘I’m not Here to Be Mascot’: Ibrahimovic Ready to Sign New $8.3 Mln Contract With AC Milan - Report

Zlatan Ibrahimovic has signalled his readiness to sign a new contract with the Italian football club AC Milan, saying that “everything is finally sorted out” and he can now return to where he feels at home. The deal is reportedly worth seven million euros ($8.3 million).

“As I’ve always said, I’m not here to be a mascot. I’m here to bring results and to help the team, the coach and the squad return to where Milan should be”, the 38-year-old told reporters late on Saturday as he arrived at Milan’s Linate Airport.

He also said that even though the club “had a great last six months”, it hasn’t won anything, in an apparent reference to the fact that AC Milan finished sixth in the Italian league.

“This year I’ve got the chance to be here from the start so we’ve got to continue like we were, working hard and sacrificing ourselves to reach our goals”, the Swedish footballer.

After Ibrahimovic signed a six-month deal with AC Milan in January, he scored 10 goals in 18 Serie A games to help Milan with a sixth-place finish and a Europa League spot.
