Novak Djokovic Defeats Daniil Medvedev in Australian Open - Video

World number one tennis player Novak Djokovic has scored his record-breaking ninth win at the Australian Open after defeating Russian Daniil Medvedev 7-5, 6-2, 6-2 in a 113-minute face-off.

The 33-year-old Serbian player now has 18 Grand Slam titles.

Djokovic secured his ninth Australian Open title with the win over Medvedev.

Medvedev was unable to break through in his second finals appearance at a Grand Slam tournament. He previously lost to Spaniard Rafael Nadal at the 2019 US Open. In the updated rating of the Association of Tennis Professionals Medvedev will be ranked number three.

The Djokovic-Medvedev match comes on the final day of the Australian Open that kicked off on 8 February. On Saturday, Naomi Osaka beat Jennifer Brady in the women’s singles final.
