False alarm over David Alaba: He will be fit for Shakhtar clash

Carlo Ancelotti's defensive injury woes have lightened somewhat after it emerged that concerns over David Alaba's fitness were a false alarm, and that the Austrian will be fit enough to face Shakhtar Donetsk in the Champions League.

Thursday training took place in the afternoon and it gave Real Madrid's medical staff more of an opportunity to assess the condition of several players, and it was determined that Alaba suffered only a minor knock to his knee.

There was also more positive news with regards to Eder Militao, who limped out of Brazil's 0-0 draw with Colombia during the week, with further tests expected on Friday but there is now less of a concern over medium to long-term damage.

Eduardo Camavinga was able to train fully despite leaving the French Under-21 camp early through a foot injury, whilst Marco Asensio will also be assessed before the trip to Kiev.

Dani Carvajal has officially been ruled out of the continental trip though, with his return date pencilled in for the Clasico on Sunday October 24, although that could change.

Dani Ceballos and Gareth Bale continue to work alone in the gym and have been ruled out of the Shakhtar meeting, whilst Mariano Diaz has an outside chance of being included in the travelling squad.
