Fans turn their back on Barcelona: Only 37,278 at Camp Nou!

Low attendances at Camp Nou had been a concern throughout the season, but COVID-19 restrictions had offered an explanation and El Clasico produced a crowd of over 86,000.

However, it's true that there were almost 15,000 tickets unsold for El Clasico, usually a sell-out fixture, and against Alaves, the attendance was just 37,278.

It's the lowest attendance yet, even though the club offered half price discounts on tickets after games against Valencia and Dynamo Kiev produced crowds under 50,000.

While it did rain heavily in Barcelona on Saturday, that rain stopped by the afternoon and other sites in the city have not been as impacted.

The club understand that the pandemic and the slow return of tourism is the main reasoning behind the lack of fans in attendance.

It cannot be denied that the team is not at its best, and also that many of the high-profile figures like Lionel Messi, Antoine Griezmann and Luis Suarez have all left.
