Koeman's job is not in danger... for now

Barcelona were beaten 2-1 by Real Madrid at the Camp Nou on Sunday, but the result of the Clasico will not put Ronald Koeman's job in danger for the time being.

Despite losing the match, Barcelona's performance was not considered as poor, but the next block of three games is expected to be crucial for the future of the coaching staff.

Barcelona may be allowed to lose a Clasico, but there will be no excuses in the event they drop points against theoretically weaker opponents such as Rayo Vallecano, Alaves and Dynamo Kiev.

The two LaLiga Santander games will serve as a ladder to climb up the table and reach the Champions League spots as they currently sit ninth, with the match in Kiev a must-win duel for the Blaugrana following their defeats to Bayern Munich and Benfica.

The Barcelona board of directors have placed their confidence in Koeman, but they are adamant that his future also depends on the team's results.

Koeman's struggles

Under the Dutch coach, Barcelona are struggling against strong opponents such as Bayern Munich, Atletico Madrid, Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain.

In 10 games against elite clubs, Koeman has celebrated just one victory, a 2-0 win away at Juventus last season, two draws against Atletico and PSG and seven defeats.

Sevilla are the only strong Spanish side against whom Barcelona have managed to grab victories under Koeman, as they beat the Andalusian outfit both in LaLiga Santander and the Copa del Rey last season.
