Leonardo: Real Madrid must be punished

Paris Saint-Germain sporting director Leonardo has hit out again about the transfer saga surrounding Kylian Mbappe and Real Madrid, and feels the Spanish giants showed a lack of respect to PSG.

Mbappe made his intentions to leave PSG clear with Real Madrid attempting to sign Mbappe in the summer and offered a whopping 200 million euros to PSG for the young striker, but this was rebuffed by the Ligue 1 side.

"From Madrid they deny it, but I think Real Madrid have been working to buy Mbappe [as a free agent] for a long time," Leonardo said at the Festivo dello Sport event in Milan.

"For two years they have been speaking publicly about Mbappe. This must be punished.

"From Real Madrid I see a lack of respect for Mbappe. He is not a normal player, he is one of the best in the world.

"The coach, the board, Real Madrid players spoke about Kylian. I think it's part of their plan. It's not respectful."

Leonardo also insisted that the Parisian club have no intention of selling the young forward, despite the player having rejected several contract offers from PSG.

"Our idea is to extend Kylian Mbappe's contract," Leonardo insisted.

"Nothing has changed in our plans. Kylian is a jewel, he is absolutely perfect for PSG.

"We'll then have Kylian, Leo [Messi], Ney. We've never planned PSG's future without Mbappe."
