Messi, Benzema and Cristiano Ronaldo: Three 'Clasicos' for the Ballon d'Or

Actualizado

There are 170 France Football correspondents scattered around the world set with the task of choosing the world's best player in 2021. Voting began on October 9 and will close at midnight on October 24.

The football calendar has thrown up three thrilling fixtures for three of the big names hoping to win the award on the final day of voting, with Karim Benzema, Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo all facing tough tasks.

Benzema is the first to play his, as Real Madrid face Barcelona at 16:00. Manchester United and Cristiano then take on Liverpool at 17:30 and Messi's Paris Saint-Germain meet Marseille at 20:45.

Everything could be decided on Sunday, then, even if the winner won't be named until October 29 in Paris. The three aren't the only contenders, either. Robert Lewandowski and Jorginho both feel they have a big chance at getting their hands on the award themselves.

Benzema has a good record at the Camp Nou though and he'll back himself away to Barcelona, with the Catalans in a dire situation at the moment. ?

Messi, for his part, is trying to find his best form at the Parc des Princes but is growing increasingly comfortable at the club, and sparks tend to fly with PSG and Marseille meet.

Cristiano can't be ruled out either, even if this year saw him a long way away from the levels he hit in previous years, and the levels shown by so many other big names in the game. Sir Alex Ferguson also threw his support behind the Manchester United No.7.
