Raheem Sterling valued at 80 million euros by Manchester City

Whilst the financial situation at Barcelona is still rather problematic, the Catalan giants intent to reinforce their forward line in either the January window or next summer, and with Raheem Sterling standing as one of their priority targets, Manchester City have slapped an 80 million euro valuation on the player.

Barcelona's technical department are formulating a shortlist of players who could rejuvenate a stagnant forward line that is in desperate need of star quality.

Sterling is currently in a difficult situation in Manchester, having lost his place in Pep Guardiola's starting XI amidst rumours of a rift between the pair.

In simple terms, though, any deal will be extremely complex for Barcelona, even without taking their fiscal issues into account.

Sterling's deal with Manchester City does end in June 2023, which puts him in the red-zone to leave on a free transfer, but he hopes to depart before then and City are in no mood to offer any discounts on their players.

Barcelona know City stand firm on this policy, with Eric Garcia's protracted arrival eventually coming via a free transfer rather than the Premier League side settling for a nominal fee before the player's contract expired.

The Blues are willing to sell Sterling if a good offer arrives, that's clear, especially with the former Barcelona coach admitted that he only wanted footballers at his club who were happy.

Los Cules have alternative options, one being Dani Olmo who actually developed as a player within La Masia, although his price tag of 50 million euros is also one which Barcelona will have difficulty meeting.
