Ancelotti: Florentino Perez has big plans for July

Carlo Ancelotti has claimed that Real Madrid president Florentino Perez is planning to be particularly active in the summer transfer window.

The Italian tactician noted that Los Blancos' objectives remain intact, despite the financial crisis in football caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.

"At Real Madrid, everything is the same and unchanged," Ancelotti told Corriere dello Sport.

"The only thing that changes are the coaches. The same physios, the same workers, the same journalists, the same vision, the same urgency for greatness, despite the economic damage caused by the pandemic.

"In one year, at the end of December 2022, the new [Estadio Santiago] Bernabeu will be ready and Florentino has big plans for July.

"Florentino has very serious intentions. [Signing Erling] Haaland in addition to [Kylian] Mbappe? Let's talk about it later."

Ancelotti on the future of football

Ancelotti went on to warn that players have been affected by their teams' congested calendars and as a result, the quality of football has dropped recently.

"Football must evolve quickly," added Ancelotti.

"The first thing is to reduce the [number of the] games. They play too many and they are poor. The quality of the show has dropped a lot.

"The players can't take it anymore. There are those who refuse to join up with the national team. Tiredness, injuries, games that end 10-0. Enough is enough."

The Real Madrid boss believes that football's governing bodies need to reduce the number of international breaks during a season to just two.

"[The solution is having] fewer games, I reiterate it, and two stops for the national teams," noted Ancelotti.

"I spoke with [FIFA's Head of Global Football Development, Arsene] Wenger. The footballers, I am sure, would lower their salary if the calendar was cut, and the coaches the same.

"Football, as it is, does not hold. The idea of the Super League was born from the demand for this change."
