Kevin Durant: Steph Curry is a master at what he does
Despite getting retribution tonight against the Cavaliers, Kevin Durant went through several stages as he saw Steph Curry going to work against his Nets team. Before last Tuesday's game at Barclay's Arena, we all hyped up the game between the two greatest scorers of the season. But when the game ended, there was only one clear victor with the other one bowing the greatness. It's not that Kevin Durant isn't a fantastic baller but Steph simply is on a different level this season. No other player in the league can deliver similar numbers right now. A few days ago, he became the greatest shooter in NBA history but he confirmed his status by dropping 37 against Durant's team.
As far as Kevin goes, he was spotted laughing with Draymond Green about something we can only imagine unless you contact a professional lip reader. During that exchange, Kevin seemed content with something he was explaining Green while the Warriors star was cracking up. It's impossible not to think about the decision Durant made of leaving Golden State to seek for new opportunities at another super team. But over a season later, Kevin can feel unhappy about his choices if we only look at the results the Nets have so far. Also, not having Kyrie Irving must be another source of disappointment for Durant. But wathing Steph going to work has to be what stings the most for a player who could still be part of this Warriors team.
Durant bows to Curry's greatness.
After scoring aseason-low 19 points against Golden State, Durant spoke to the press about Curry's night: "He's a master at what he does," Durant told reporters. "I've been saying that since he came into the league. Just a crafty player that can do anything off the ball, that can cut to the rim, shoot floaters, shoot threes. And then he can handle the basketball, too, and get down to his spot. I've been there. He's put in a ton of work and he cares about the game, he loves his teammates, plays with energy. That's what you get any night. Every night he's a player like that -- at an all-star, MVP, hall of fame level. You gotta respect it."
