Premier League boom to continue: Reports of 11.6 billion euro TV rights deal!

The Premier League is set to receive a huge financial boost, as the league is reportedly close to securing a combined 11.6 billion euro deal to sell its TV rights for the period between 2022 and 2025 to domestic and foreign providers.

This amount will be distributed amongst the 20 Premier League clubs and will see the total TV rights income increase by 1bn euros across the next three years.

According to the Daily Mail, fierce bidding wars between providers in countries such as the USA and Australia could prove financially beneficial for the Premier League.

As reported by the English publication, Disney, WarnerMedia and CBS are competing with NBC in the USA, while current right-owners Optus are facing a four-way bidding battle with Stan Sport, Paramount+ and Amazon in Australia.

Is is said that beIN will maintain the TV rights in the Middle East in exchange for 450m euros, while Canal+ has also renewed its deal for 300m euros to show games in France, Slovakia and the Czech Republic. Deals have also been clinched with broadcasters in Italy (Sky Italia), Portugal (ELEVEN Sports), Belgium (Telenet), Germany (Sky Deutschland) and Spain (DAZN).

Meanwhile, Sky Sports, BT, Amazon and the BBC will spend 5.8 billion euros to secure the Premier League TV rights in the UK.

The Nordic Entertainment Group (NENT) has acquired the rights to show Premier League games in Sweden, Denmark and Finland in exchange for 2.8 billion euros until 2028 and they have also purchased a separate six-year pack to broadcast matches in the Netherlands, Poland, Estonia, Lithuania and Latvia.
