Bulls make case for best team in the East after another win over Nets

Actualizado

The Chicago Bulls beat the Brooklyn Nets for the second time this season to show they're the team to fear in the Eastern Conference. DeMar DeRozan had another incredible fourth quarter to pull further away as the league's top scorer in the final period.

Meanwhile, the league's overall leading scorer, Kevin Durant, got 28 points in defeat on 12 of 26 shooting with only two made threes. He became the 24th top scorer ever in the NBA, passing Ray Allen and getting closer to Patrick Ewing.

James Harden struggled in his 40 minutes of play, scoring only five of his 21 attempts from the floor, but making up for it with 14 assists. Harden seems to still be adjusting his game to the new foul rules, as he only got to the free throw line on two ocassions.

While the game was close the entire way through, Nets never lost the lead until the fourth quarter. A run by Chicago to end third and begin the fourth put them on top for the first time, and they never looked back.

DeRozan puts the team on his shoulders

From that moment forward, it was all DeRozan putting on a shooting clinic to secure another win for his team down the stretch. DeRozan scored 29 points on 24 attempts, missing 11 times but sinking them when they mattered most.

Lonzo Ball struggled shooting the ball, going 2 of 7 from beyond the arc, but all was forgiven when he hit a dagger triple with 16 seconds left in the game. He was also a nightmare on the defensive end, getting two steals, three blocks, and holding Harden to 14 points.

Alex Caruso leaves game early with injury

The entire Bulls team is playing fantastic defense, especially Alex Caruso, who left the game early with a right hamstring strain. Caruso, who was questionable to play in this game due to the hamstring issue, played eight minutes before leaving for the night, scoring two triples, and adding one more to his league-leading number of steals.

While Brooklyn still tops the Eastern Conference standings with 16 wins and only 7 losses, Chicago is on pace to take over the top spot, trailing by a single loss. Bulls will now face the Denver Nuggets while Nets take on the Dallas Mavericks.
