Real Betis want to sign Ceballos next summer

Dani Ceballos has been working on his recovery since returning to Real Madrid after spending the last two seasons on loan at Arsenal, but he could be on the move again, this time to Real Betis.

Ceballos started his career at Betis and made his debut in April 2014 in a 1-0 loss against Real Sociedad.

After making some 98 appearances for Betis, Ceballos made an 18 million euro move to Real Madrid in July 2017.

Difficult times for Ceballos in the capital

Ceballos has failed to make an impact for Real Madrid, instead finding success for Spain.

The 25-year-old was at the heart of Spain's European Under-21 Championship win in 2019 and won a silver medal with La Roja at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, where he picked up an ankle injury.

Now, having overcome this injury, he will be looking to make his first Real Madrid appearance since April 28, 2019, when he played under Zinedine Zidane against Rayo Vallecano.

A return to Betis on the cards?

Ceballos has been often linked with a return to Betis, but it looks like his move will not come in the January transfer window.

Betis coach Manuel Pellegrini has already said that he does not want any movements, either in or out, during the window.

Ceballos' former side are enjoying a great first half to the season, entering 2022 in third position in LaLiga Santander.

The situation also suits Real Madrid, who will be looking to offload the player come the end of the campaign as he does not look to be in Carlo Ancelotti's plans for the rest of the season.

Ceballos enters the final year of his contract in summer 2022.

Spanish salvation for Ceballos

One of the biggest worries for the midfielder will be that a lack of game time will only distance himself from the national team.

Before the recent Olympic Games, Ceballos was called up by Luis Enrique in 2018 but was unable to nail down a place for Spain.

With the likes of Pedri and Gavi taking the initiative for Spain, Ceballos will be keen to play frequently and make a route back into Luis Enrique's plans.
