Dallas Cowboys NFL: Keanu Neal misses Thursday's session with an injury

Actualizado

Bad news for the Dallas Cowboys ahead of next weekend as a late report arrived of linebacker Keanu Neal with a double injury. The veteran missed Thursday's practice with the rest of his teammates with a chest and elbow problems. Dallas Morning News' Michael Gahlken reported it first. Neal was present in practice but he hardly participated as he experienced pain throughout the entire session. Keanu wasn't even fully operational during the non-padded work, which sets the alarms for the Cowboys. If he continues like this on Saturday, Neal might miss the upcoming game on Sunday.

Dallas Cowboys are set to face the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday and he will still remain in close observation throughout the day before the game. His inclusion in the starting lineup will be a last-minute call. If for some reason Neal isn't able to play in the wild-card game, both Luke Gifford and Francis Bernard are ready to take his position on the field as linebackers. Neal has been trying to get fit for this crucial game and his absence would be a huge blow for the Cowboys' playoff aspirations. He's been a major component in the team's impressive 12-5 run during the regular season.

Pollard and Smith are back in full health for Sunday.

But it's not all bad news for the Dallas Cowboys as Tony Pollard and Tyron Smith are back to full health with the Cowboys and will play Sunday vs 49ers. Judging on the latest report from Friday, it's possible Keanu Neal is completely out of the game for Sunday. However, there will be another report on Saturday that will likely conform his absence. Neal is arguably the player with the highest blitz risk for opponent quarterbacks that the Cowboys had all season. That's exactly what they might lose on Sunday if he misses the game. Neal picked up his injury during the last game against the Philadelphia Eagles.
