How could Jimmy Garoppolo join a club with only Joe Montana on the 49ers?

Many San Francisco 49ers fans are not very happy with the productivity of their quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo at the helm of the team's offense that will visit the Los Angeles Rams in the NFC Championship Game for a ticket to Super Bowl LVI this coming Sunday.

It is an incontrovertible reality that the former New England Patriots passer is not one of the best in the NFL and that, even for many experts, he is the worst of the four starters still alive to win the Vince Lombardi Trophy this year, the others being Patrick Mahomes of the Kansas City Chiefs, Joe Burrow of the Cincinnati Bengals and Matthew Stafford of the aforementioned Rams.

A winning quarterback

But with Jimmy-G, the 49ers are winners, if one virtue he has is that he is a leader who leads his team to victory, in fact, in his career he has an undefeated record of 6-0 against the team that will be administratively home at SoFi Stadium.

If the 49ers go on to win Super Bowl LVI they would tie the Pittsburgh Steelers and New England Patriots as the teams with the most Vince Lombardi Trophies with six and would also break a 27-year championship-less fast.

Joe Montana's club

But the statistic that is hard to put into perspective is that this successful franchise has had four quarterbacks reach the Super Bowl (no one has more), two of them, Steve Young and Colin Kaepernick only made it to "Super Sunday" once, same situation as Garoppolo but if he wins on Sunday against the Rams he would join Joe Montana as the only 49ers quarterbacks to play in multiple Super Bowls.

Even with that said, Garoppolo could be traded to another team in the offseason, as San Francisco drafted Trey Lance in the first round of last year's draft, and then let go of a quarterback who is a winner nonetheless.
