Jorge Mendes travels to Manchester for crucial talks with Cristiano Ronaldo

Cristiano Ronaldo's second spell at Manchester United could come to an end after just one season.

The Portuguese returned to Old Trafford from Juventus last summer, where he decided his time was up and left after the 2021/22 campaign had begun. Now, midway through that same season, he's considering a Manchester United exit.

According to The Sun, Cristiano has called agent Jorge Mendes to hold "crisis talks," leading to Mendes flying to Manchester to meet with his client.

Ralf Rangnick's appointment as interim coach after Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's sacking hasn't had the desired impact, and has reportedly left a number of players unhappy, Cristiano being one.

"Cristiano is very concerned about what is happening at United," a source close to the player told The Sun. "The team is receiving a lot of criticism and he knows he is regarded as one of the leaders.

"There are quite a lot of problems and Cristiano is feeling the pressure and is very stressed by the situation. He desperately wants his United move to be a success, but he is starting to recognise that winning trophies with the current set up could be a real struggle.

"Jorge came to see him and they spent time chatting through how things are going, what they think are the problems, how they might be solved and what the solutions may be. Nothing is ruled out."

The No.7 has 14 goals in all competitions this season, almost half of the 29 United have managed as a whole.
