Karl-Anthony Towns breaks the Three-Point Contest record

The NBA All-Star Weekend continued with Saturday's activity, the Three-Point Contest had a star-studded list of players who were going for the award this year. In block one, Luke Kennard (28 points) defeated CJ McCollum, Desmond Bane and Zach LaVine. The Chicago Bulls star was sttempting to become the first player in NBA history to win both the Slam Dunk Contest and the Three Point Contest. However, he dropped out of the race in the very first round by getting the lowest number of points (14). After the break, Karl-Anthony Towns appeared to take a major lead with 22 points but still behind Kennard. Then Trae Young tied Towns to get through alongside Kennard as well.

In the next round, Towns went off with 29 points to instill a little fear on both Kennard and Young. An impressive display from the deep, courtesy of the Minnesota Timberwolves' star. Young was next in line, he did his best but he started slow at the beginning and only got 26 points in the end. Luke Nennard was last, he also didn't do very well as he tied Young with 26 points. Karl-Anthony Towns is the 2022 Three-Point Contest champion. But how did he fair next to the highest Three-Point Contest record of all-time?

Towns breaks Curry and Booker's record.

With 29 points, Karl-Anthony towns broke the record set by Stephen Curry in 2021 and Devin Booker in 2018. Both of these stars won the contest by getting 28 points, Karl-Anthony Towns beat them both by one point. Another impressive showing in the NBA All-Star weekend's legendary Three-Point Contest that leaves Towns at the top of the pack. He made history by writing his name next to legendary players such as Larry Bird, Stephen Curry, Steve Kerr, Klay Thompson, Kyrie Irving and Craig Hodges.
