Athletes Get Set For World Indoors in Belgrade



The championships are set for March 18-20 at the Serbian capital’s Stark Arena in Belgrade, Serbia.

It’s estimated that at least 900 athletes from 137 countries will be participating in the World Athletics Indoor Championships Belgrade 2022, four years since the last edition of the championship took place in Birmingham, United Kingdom in 2018. COVID-19 forced the postponement of the 2020 championships in Nanjing, China.

Russian and Belarusian athletes are excluded from all World Athletics events for the foreseeable future. The suspension include the 2022 World Athletics Indoor Championships in Belgrade, Serbia.

Six Ukrainian athletes will take part in next week’s World Indoor Championships in what is an all-female team.The standout name in the line-up is Olympic bronze, world silver and European Indoor high jump champion, Yaroslava Mahuchikh.

The 2022 World Indoor Tour Gold series kicked off in Karlsruhe on 28 January and came to a close in Madrid on 2 March. Each Gold meeting offered at least USD$7000 in prize money for each individual discipline on the programme, including USD$3000 to the winner.
