Canelo and his team win the Triple Crown award from the BWAA

Boxing's winning formula in 2021 is Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez and coach Eddy Reynoso, together they have become the dominating force that catapulted 'Canelo' to become the undisputed best pound-for-pound boxer in the world. Keep in mind that at only 31 years old, Alvarez has already conquered the world in the Super Middleweight division with three important victories in 2021. First, he defeated Avni Yildirim to retain the WBA (Super), WBC, and The Ring super middleweight titles that he won against Callum Smith during December 2020. Due to the pandemic, 'Canelo' wasn't able to fight but only that time. However, 2021 was definitely the year in which he cemented his dominance in the sport on all Middleweight divisions.

The final step in 2021 was to retain the Super Middleweight titles he won in 2020, plus win two more in the span of three fights. In the second fight, Billy Joe Saunders provided him with the WBO Supr Middleweight title. After that relatively easy win, 'Canelo' got to win the IBF Super Middleweight title against Caleb Plant and finally establish himself as the top poun-for-pound boxer in the world. Every single ranking has him at the very top amongst all the divisions. None of what he accomplished that year would've been possible without trainer and manager Eddy Reynoso. Together, they have conquered the world and finally convinced the harshest of critics to honor them with all the awards in 2021.

The WBAA honors Canelo Team with the Triple Crown.

The Boxing Writers Association of America has a mission to uphold the highest standards in boxing journalism. You know you made it when such a prestigious association is recognizing your work. None of the belts won by 'Canelo' and his team are worth as much as getting recognized by the greatest boxing journalists out there. This is very much like winning the Ballon d'Or in football, which is also an award handed by the best journalists in Europe. 'Canelo' celebrated alongside Reynoso, the man who made him the extremely dominant boxer he is today. That Triple Crown is rarely obtained in boxing, which makes this recognition even more impressive.
