Ferrari show most improvement at pre-season testing

Mercedes debuted the newest version of the W13 at the first day of Bahrain testing ahead of the 2022 Formula 1 season, but were left disappointed by the fact they remained slower than Ferrari.

It was a fine afternoon for Charles Leclerc, who posted the fastest time in Sakhir with a 1:34.531 on medium tyres, which was half a second quicker than WilliamsAlex Albon, who was racing on soft tyres.

Those who were using the same medium compound as Leclerc were all at least a second and a half behind the Monaco-born driver.

Ferrari have constructed the F1-75 which is, thus far, proving itself to be the car best suited to handling the increased straight-line speed of the new cars.

More than 50 laps were completed by the Italian team in Sakhir's first session, and there wasn't the slightest mishap.

The Mercedes vehicle tweaks are already under the microscope of Red Bull, with chief technician Adrian Newey being tasked with studying the changes on the German team's car.

With that being said, Sir Lewis Hamilton is still yet to get the best out of the car with it not seeming to be too fast, and there are serious problems on the straights.
