Criticism of Cristiano Ronaldo: He believes he is god and can do whatever he wants

Former Liverpool left-back Jose Enrique has criticised Cristiano Ronaldo after the incident that took place following Manchester United's 1-0 loss away at Everton on Saturday.

A video that went viral on social media showed the Portuguese star smashing the phone of 14-year-old Everton fan Jake Harding on his way to the dressing room.

"I always said it," Jose Enrique posted on social media "Don't like him. He believes [that he] is god and can do whatever he wants.

"That doesn't take that [he's] been one of the best players in the history of football but as a person [I] don't like him."

Ronaldo's apology

Following the incident, Ronaldo took to social media to publicly apologise for his attitude and invited the young Everton fan to attend a Manchester United game at Old Trafford.

"It's never easy to deal with emotions in difficult moments such as the one we are facing," Ronaldo said.

"Nevertheless, we always have to be respectful, patient and set the example for all the youngsters who love the beautiful game.

"I would like to apologise for my outburst and, if possible, I would like to invite this supporter to watch a game at Old Trafford as a sign of fair-play and sportsmanship."
