Shakur Stevenson dominates Oscar Valdez to become unified champion

Shakur Stevenson dominated and defeated Mexican Oscar Valdez by unanimous decision and unified the WBC and WBO super featherweight titles at the MGM Grand Garden in Las Vegas.

There was no study round, Valdez came out looking for Stevenson, who with his southpaw guard made things difficult for the Mexican.

Shakur made use of the distance, with the jab he kept Valdez at bay, the Mexican tried from all sides, but the speed of his enemy avoided any collision, in Oscar's corner they asked him to close the angles, but it was difficult. The second chapter reached its end.

Valdez came out with a hot right hand in the third episode, the tricolor released much straight and the missiles exploded in Stevenson's face, the Mexican had finally found the distance to be able to hurt his enemy.

Stevenson was superior, with the jab he did what he wanted, Valdez did not accommodate to the distance, he tried with the right, but the mobility of the American avoided any contact. Eddie Reynoso asked Oscar to work the body more, but the boxer simply could not.

Valdez visited the canvas

Halfway through the fight, Valdez went all out, he was badly stopped and a left from Stevenson sent the Mexican to the canvas; he received the protective count, he was down, but he was not in bad condition.

Valdez could not ask for more, with the tools he had he was looking to win the fight, but in front of him was a faster boxer, bigger and who handled the distance well. The Mexican was attacking, but was disorganized, he needed a surprising punch to win the fight.

Stevenson outclassed Valdez

Complicated night for Valdez and complete night for Stevenson; the American dominated the fight from start to finish, he did not give the Mexican a chance to win. He threw the most effective punches, the most accurate. Oscar showed a lot of heart, but that was not enough.

The fight reached 12 episodes and the judges gave: 117-110, 118-109 and 118-109, all for the super featherweight world champion Shakur Stevenson.
