Tiger Woods returns to championship tournaments with a struggling first round

After having a difficult time in the first round of the PGA Championship, he managed to keep focused and channel the inner champion do better in the second round and be able to make the cut.

Tiger shot 1-under-par 69 and at the end he finished at 3-over through the first 36 holes.

The cut line was 4-over, and Woods had already shot a 4-over in Thursday's first run.

Tiger Woods is only 12 shots behind Will Zelatoris who is the clubhouse leader and stands at 9-under while he goes into the third round which will take place on Saturday.

He had knee surgery

Woods had a difficult time during the first round on Thursday when he teed off on the eight holes, and it seemed he was somewhat uncomfortable, he had surgery on his right leg, and after he finished he was interviewed by ESPN, and when asked how it felt? With his characteristic big smile, he mentioned that "it has felt better before".

The Third Round will be in Tulsa Oklahoma

The third round of the PGA Championship will take place in the Southern Hills Country Club, in Tulsa, Oklahoma on Saturday, and Woods is determined to win and get back to the championship status that he is accustomed to.

He is determined to win

When asked by ESPN about his physical condition he mentioned "There's a mission. The mission is to go ahead and win this thing somehow and I know sometimes it doesn't exactly feel well but hey, that's what it is. That's life, that's sports. We push it, sometimes it breaks but that's OK, you get back out there and that's why I got a great PT staff. I'm really good at breaking things and really good at fixing things, so it's a great relationship."
