Stephen Curry's injuries throughout his career

To speak of Wardell Stephen Curry II is to refer to an out-of-the-ordinary player who, even before coming to the NBA, had the table set to transcend.

For starters, his father Dell Curry was also a player in the league with teams such as Utah, Cleveland, Charlotte, Milwaukee and Toronto, which -without detracting from his qualities- represented a great advantage for Stephen to be selected by the Golden State Warriors in the seventh position of the 2009 NBA draft.

Predestined for success

Since then, the point guard has not stopped playing for the team, where, in addition to winning three titles, he has also won two MVP awards and has been a six-time all-star. As if that weren't enough, he is considered the best pure shooter in NBA history.

With such a track record one might think that he has always been a solid player on the court, but his history shows that due to the fragility of his ankles and his recurrent injuries he was close to early retirement, because physically and mentally this causes a deterioration in the confidence of any athlete regardless of the discipline where he competes.

Chronology of Curry's injuries

2010 - 2011

Prior to his second NBA season, Curry injured his ankle in the middle of the preseason, forcing him to carry his injury until the end of the year, which made it necessary for him to undergo surgery to repair the ligaments.

2011 - 2012

His rehabilitation process was deficient and due to the injuries he only played in 26 games because he was operated again. At that time, it was rumored that he would be traded to the Milwaukee Bucks.

2012 - 2013

After the team gave him a contract extension, Steph was back in front of the backboard, but his ankles seemed to be made of glass as he recurrently finished games hurt.

The 2013 Turning Point

During the summer, the Warriors hired Keke Lyles, who upon seeing Curry's problems designed a training plan focused on strengthening his hip and core muscles in order to ease the strain on his ankles, which proved successful as the injuries subsided.

2015 - 2016

After almost three years the point guard sprained his ankle in the first game of the first round against the Houston Rockets. However, he was able to recover soon.

2017 - 2018

Multiple ankle problems again shook Curry who only played 51 regular season games.

2018 - 2019

Although Steph faced several minor ankle tweaks, he again managed to pull through.
