Terence Crawford vs Errol Spence Jr: When is the unified title match?

According to reports from Friday, Errol Spence Jr. and Terence Crawford are planning a fight for the undisputed welterweight title. The two boxing superstars are getting "closer" to a deal to fight in October, according to ESPN's Mike Coppinger.

For quite some time, there has been talk about a fight between two of the best pound-for-pound fighters in the world. It's almost a given that it's in the works.

Terence Crawford told Mike Coppinger in April that if he didn't reach an agreement with Errol Spence Jr., he would be "shocked." The biggest stumbling block was Terence Crawford's contract with Top Rank, which expires in November.

Details are still being sorted out

Al Haymon, the man behind Premier Boxing Champions, manages Errol Spence Jr. According to Mike Coppinger, PBC rarely does business with other promoters.

Terence Crawford assured Mike Coppinger, "I'm free to do whatever I want." "Nothing stands in the way of our fight," he went on to say. There is nothing blocking it: no promotion company, no wrong side of the street, nothing. Let's see who the world's best welterweight is."

Errol Spence Jr made it clear who he wants to fight next after his victory over Yordenis Ugas on April 16 in the ring "Everyone knows who I want next. I want Terence Crawford next. That's the fight I want to fight. That's the fight everyone else wants."

Since defeating Jeff Horn in June 2018, Terence Crawford (38-0) has been the WBO welterweight champion. He has successfully defended the title five times, most recently in November when he defeated Shawn Porter in the 10th round by TKO. With his victory over Yordenis Ugas, Errol Spence Jr (28-0) retained the WBC and IBF welterweight titles and won the WBA welterweight title.
