Charles Oliveira vs. Islam Makhachev: Vacant lightweight title on the line

The next undispituted UFC's lightweight champion of the world will be decided in the stellar main event between Charles Oliveira and Islam Makhachev at UFC 280 on October 22, live from Abu Dhabi's Yas Island.

Both fighters are on impressive win streaks at one of the toughest divisions in the sport.

Tickets will go on sale Friday, July 22, via Ticketmaster and Etihad Arena.

How does Charles Oliveira arrive to this fight?

The Brazilian fighter has been on a roll lately, he's undefeated in his last 11 fights, that takes us back to 2018 for his last lost match.

His last fight was stained by him missing the weight a day before his bout with Justin Gaethje at UFC 274, forcing him to forfeit his title.

But in his last three fights he's manage to beat Justin Gaethje, Dustin Poirier and Michael Chandler.

He has a professional record of 33-8 and is regarded as the #1 fighter in the lightweight division.

How does Islam Makhachev arrive to this fight?

He holds an impressive 22-1 record as a professional fighter out of Dagestan, Russia.

His manager Ali Abdelaziz constantly regards him as the best grappler in UFC, and this match will put that statement to the test, since Oliveira is also viewed as a dominant force in the grappling fight.

Makhachev used to sparr with retired former champion Khabib Nurmagomedov growing up.

In his last four fights he's beaten Drew Dober, Thiago Moises, Dan Hooker and Bobby Green.

His only lost fight came in a bout with Adriano Martins, in what was Makhachev's second fight in the UFC, he was TKO'd in the first round.
