James made a comment about the situation of the basketball player in Russia, he said he does not understand how it is that Griner could not be brought back to the United States, the NBA player commented that Joe Biden should make a better effort in this situation.

"Can he feel like America has turned its back on him? I would feel like that, 'Would I want to come back to the United States?" he said on the YouTube show The Shop.

After these comments people criticized him strongly, so James came out to qualify his statements on the social network Twitter.

"My comments about Brittney Griner were not meant to be a criticism of our precious country. I simply tried to say how she feels emotionally. She's been locked up for over 100 days, and simply put she needs to be brought back home."
