The lie about Kevin Durant: Team he leaves goes to hell

Kevin Durant is one of the best basketball players today and many believe that at the time of his retirement he will be considered one of the best of all time, however, a myth that the still Brooklyn Nets forward has against him is that the franchises he leaves, he leaves them in ruins, that is not necessarily true.

Oklahoma City Thunder

Clearly KD's longest stint so far in his NBA career has been with the Oklahoma City Thunder, including being in the last year this franchise played as the Seattle SuperSonics in 2007 and leaving the team in 2016 to join the Golden State Warriors.

The Thunder after Durant's departure accumulated four consecutive seasons reaching the playoffs by the hand of Russell Westbrook as their main player in the early years, it was until the 2020-2021 campaign that came the clear decline of this team, the Durant effect had already passed.

Golden State Warriors

No one doubts the importance that "Durantula" had for the second part of the Warriors dynasty, always reaching the NBA Finals and winning the Larry O'Brien Trophy twice.

Durant was in the Bay from 2016 to 2019 and while when he left, the team had the worst record in the entire NBA the following year, the reason was not only his departure, the multiple injuries to Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson and Draymond Green was a preponderant factor.

So much so, that when all three returned to full health this season, without the need for Durant, the team now playing at home in San Francisco, was once again the NBA champion.

Brooklyn Nets

Durant has asked to be traded from the Nets, it is not fully known what will happen in the future of the Brooklyn team, however, it is known that the franchise is asking for at least one All-Star player and draft picks to be traded.

For these reasons, the Nets could build a competitive roster for next season and if they choose well with the draft picks they get, perhaps compete for a title in a few years.
