Manchester City and FC Barcelona unite in humanitarian friendly against ALS

Camp Nou witnessed one of its most beautiful nights on Wednesday. As two of the best teams in the world such as Barcelona and Manchester City, both met at the Blaugrana stadium this evening. But that was actually only a minor aspect of what actually happened. Inside a practically filled stadium, everybody got together to fight against Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS). The two winners of the evening weren't Barcelona or Manchester City, it was actually JuanCarlos Unzue. The former Blaugrana goalkeeper was capable to make these two great clubs play a football match against ALS. It was his determination, strength and fighting spirit that made it possible for the Blaugrana fan base to fight together for this cause.

Since he got diagnosed with this disease, Unsue was determined to make the world more familiar with ALS and seek aid for all people who suffer through it. He hasn't stopped since then. The former goalkeeper has gone through so many cities preaching his message in diverse summits, interviews and lectures. A message that has reached depths of all the ones who have taken the time to listen to it. What happened yesterday is the culmination of his work and commitment to get laws passed and get more aid against ALS. It also helped people to get to know more about this disease.

The match itself was a party for every fan who attended. Barcelona started off strong, they had two great chances from Aubameyang and Kessie that struck the bar. However, City was the team that scored first. A grave mistake from Iñaki Peña, who let the ball slip through his hands was welcomed by Álvarez to draw first blood. An error that didn't affect the goalkeeper, whi became one of the best players on the pitch with several amazing interventions.

Aubameyang tied the game with a goal that could be his last with a Barcelona jersey. He likely has a done deal with Chelsea. In the second half, Barcelona turned the result around with two more goals scored by De Jong and Memphis. Every single player with chances to leave Barcelona during the current transfer market was lucky in front of goal this evening.
