A 7.7-magnitude earthquake hits Mexico right on the anniversary of the 2017 and 1985 tragedies

Where was the epicenter of the earthquake in Mexico?

The epicenter of the earthquake was 63 kilometers south of the city of Coalcoman, Michoacan, a central state in Mexico.

The population took to the streets in an orderly manner evacuating buildings and for the moment no major damage has been reported.

The first message from President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador

"It is an earthquake of 6.8 (degrees Richter) according to the National Seismological, which had epicenter are in Coalcomán, Michoacán to 59 kilometers south of Colima, we will begin to collect information and we wish with all our hearts that nothing serious has happened," said the President of Mexico, Andrés Manuel López Obrador.

The Governor of Mexico City, Claudia Sheinbaum has announced that for the moment no major material damages are reported, however, she also confirmed that they have applied the emergency protocols and are working with Civil Protection.

The Governor of the State of Michoacán, Alfredo Ramírez Bedolla, also announced the earthquake on his Twitter account, however, he has not reported major damages in his district either.
