Haaland adds a brace to his tally as Manchester City rock Copenhagen

Manchester City made it three wins out of three by thumping Copenhagen 5-0 in the Champions League on Tuesday as Erling Haaland continued his incredible goalscoring form.

The Norwegian only needed 45 minutes on the pitch to make it 19 goals from his first 12 matches for the Citizens.

With what was his first touch of the game, Haaland fired home a powerful finish from a Joao Cancelo cross after just seven minutes.

He added a second when Kamil Grabara parried a Sergio Gomez shot into the path of the striker, who calmly slotted home.

Copenhagen's dreadful night at the Etihad was made worse just before half-time when a Gomez shot came off Denis Vavro and then David Khocolava on its way into the back of the net.

No Haaland, no problem

With the match all but decided Pep Guardiola decided to rest Haaland, replacing him with Cole Palmer at half-time.

That didn't stop City from adding to the scoreline.

Riyad Mahrez stepped up and made it 4-0 from the penalty spot after Aymeric Laporte was fouled in the penalty area.

Mahrez then turned provider for City's fifth by setting up Julian Alvarez from close range.

The dominant performance means City, who can book their place in the knockout stage with a win in Denmark next week, sit atop Group G with nine points from three matches.
