Messi back to his best just before the World Cup

The rest of Europe must be concerned about the fact that Lionel Messi is back to his Barcelona levels with Paris Saint-Germain as they swept Maccabi Haifa aside on Tuesday night.

The game ended 7-2 to the French side and it was a win that secured their place in the last 16.

In that symphony of Messi, Neymar and Kylian Mbappe, Messi stood out again, with two goals and two assists that confirm a trend: the best Messi is back and Europe trembles as they see a PSG that scares them again.

In the Champions League, he has already scored four goals in as many games, plus three assists. Last season, abruptly cut short in Europe by Real Madrid, the Argentinian, in total, played seven matches, with five goals and zero assists.

La MNM, en acción.

In Ligue 1, Messi has six goals and nine assists in 11 games, compared to six goals and 15 assists in 25 games in a season that was not bad, but not at the level of the great Messi.

The consequence, perhaps exaggerated, was even being left out of the list of the 30 best of the Ballon d'Or in October of this year.

His inner circle is clear: Messi's resurrection, if it can be called that, is motivated by several factors. First of all, his better adaptation to Paris. His family is more integrated and his children, naturally, are essential for him. Last season was difficult.

Secondly, his physical level. In 21-22, he had several physical problems. He missed the preseason with PSG due to a break after the Copa America 2021, won in Brazil.

Leo watched the first two games from the stands and did not make his debut until August 29 with PSG.

A knee bruise would force him to miss another two games in September, while in October he missed three more due to problems with his left knee.

More issues followed but now, he is at his best and Argentina will be all the better for it in Qatar.
