PSG held by Reims as Ramos sees red

Paris Saint-Germain were held to a disappointing and surprising 0-0 draw away at Reims on Saturday evening in Ligue 1.

Christophe Galtier left Leo Messi out of the squad after the Argentine felt a muscular knock in the midweek European tie with Benfica, while Neymar started on the bench. Only Kylian Mbappe, out of the usual front three, started the game.

That said, there was plenty of quality out on the field in order to get the three points, but it was a disjointed display from the French champions and a point was a fair result.

The first clear chance of the night fell to Mbappe who, after being played in on goal by Carlos Soler, could not find the magic touch to give his side the lead.

It was a valiant display from the hosts to keep themselves in the game. And early in the second period, they were handed the belief that they could hold on for a point when Sergio Ramos was sent off. It was the Spaniard's 28th career red card.

PSG so nearly grabbed all three points late on. Mbappe picked out Danilo Pereira with a fine cross, but the midfielder headed way over the bar.

Marseille slip up

The only comforting thing for PSG will be the fact that second placed Marseille slumped to a shock 2-1 home defeat against strugglers Ajaccio.

So despite PSG's poor result, they increase their lead at the top of the table to three points.
