Verstappen calls for silence over Red Bull overspending scandal
The Red Bull team is under suspicion by the FIA for exceeding the spending cap in 2021. Aston Martin is also rumoured to have done the same.
The teams could not exceed 145 million euros last year. This year, it drops to 140 and 135 for next season. Now it is Max Verstappen who has spoken out about it.
"I know where it comes from, so for me it's fine. Naturally there are other teams that have started talking without having information, which I think is a bit silly," analyzes the World Championship leader in a statement for 'The Race'. "Let them keep their mouths shut," adds Verstappen.
Horner remains confident
He doesn't want any more speculation until it is proven whether or not this has really happened. And Christian Horner, team principal, is absolutely sure that they have nothing to hide.
"I have absolute confidence in our submission," he maintains.
He hasn't shied away from giving the timelines for correcting the accounts either.
"It has gone through a process. It was in March, when it was fully signed off by our auditors. And we think we're comfortably within the limit," he says in a statement reported by 'Motorsport'.
"The FIA is following its process," he explains. "We look forward this week to hearing, not just from us, but from all the teams, the outcome of that process," Horner added.
He now sets his sights on the investigations and also on the regulations. "It's a whole new set of rules that are very complicated and apply to companies with different structures, different formulations and, of course, regulations," he says.
