Aguero and Fabregas respond to Canelo Alvarez's threat against Messi: You don't know football

Canelo Alvarez, the famous Mexican boxer, took to Twitter on Sunday to comment on a video of Lionel Messi, in which the forward allegedly kicked Mexico's jersey in the locker room after Argentina's 2-0 victory in the Qatar 2022 World Cup.

In the video, Messi is seen taking a boot off his right foot in the locker room and he touches the Mexico jersey that was on the floor with the toe of his foot.

Canelo did not take kindly to the video as he interpreted it in a different way to most.

"Did you see Messi wiping the floor with our shirt and flag?" he tweeted.

"May he pray to God that he doesn't find me!

"Just as I respect Argentina, you have to respect Mexico!

"I'm not talking about the country, I'm talking about Messi for what he did.

"Anyone who does not defend his homeland is a coward Long live Mexico!"

Aguero and Fabregas reply to Canelo Alvarez

Canelo's messages brought about responses from Sergio Aguero and Cesc Fabregas, both former teammates and friends of Messi.

They defended the Argentine forward and pointed out that what is seen in the video is something normal in the locker room at the end of a match.

"Canelo, don't look for excuses or problems, surely you don't know about football and what happens in a locker room," said Aguero.

"The shirts are always on the floor after the games are over because of the sweat and then, if you see well, he makes the move to take off his boot and unintentionally hits it."

Cesc Fabregas had a similar message for the boxer.

"You don't know the person, nor do you understand how a locker room works or what happens after a game," Fabregas wrote.

"All shirts, even the ones we wear ourselves, go on the floor and are washed afterwards. And even more so when you celebrate an important victory."
