Imo Essien, a basketball player for Old Dominion, collapses mid-game in terrifying scene

Old Dominion University player Imo Essien collapsed on the court during his team's NCAA game against Georgia Southern on Saturday.

The incident occurred in the first half of the match while his team were defending. Essien was immediately treated by doctors on the court.

"Imo Essien was evaluated by the ODU Athletic Training staff along with the GA Southern medical staff," the Old Dominion University said.

"He was responsive throughout and was able to sit with the team for the duration of the game and drove home with the team.

"He is in good spirits and will work with the ODU Sports Medicine Staff when they return to Norfolk."

WTKR reported that the player would visit a cardiologist on Monday to assess whether he will be allowed to return to court soon.
