Joe Mixon's sister, suspect in shooting incident at NFL player's home
Joe Mixon's sister, Shalonda Mixon, has been named as a suspect, along with another person, in a shooting incident that occurred at the NFL star's home earlier this week, according to new recently released police documents.
On Monday, several juveniles were playing a game called "dart wars" near Joe Mixon's house in Cincinnati when the shooting took place at around 8:25 PM, as per the Hamilton County Sheriff's Office incident report.
The documents reveal that two of the game's participants told police that a 16-year-old boy, who was also playing the game, ran alongside Joe Mixon's house with a toy gun when he was suddenly shot at. The police report stated that "unknown suspect(s)" shot at the boy from Joe Mixon's backyard, firing off a total of 11 rounds.
Shalonda Mixon named as a suspect in shooting
The teenager was hit in the foot by a bullet as he tried to run away, according to the report. The police later spotted a black Honda Accord leaving Joe Mixon's home after the shooting. The car was pulled over, and Shalonda Mixon, 34, and a man named Lamonte Brewer, also 34, were identified as the occupants. Both were named as suspects in the shooting.
The boy was taken to the hospital, where medical personnel found a bullet lodged in his foot. No arrests have been made, and no charges have been filed so far.
"We understand that there is very specific interest in this story due to the nature of the home being connected to Bengals player Joe Mixon," said an HCSO spokesperson in a statement on Thursday. "We cannot confirm additional details outside of what is outlined in the Incident Report. Our investigative team continues to review the evidence and conduct interviews."
Joe Mixon has yet to make any public statements regarding the incident.
