This is how Kansas City fans are trying to save Patrick Mahomes from brother Jackson's bad press

Just a few weeks after Patrick Mahomes dominated the sports news cycle because of the Kansas City Chiefs' Super Bowl win, it's now his brother Jackson Mahomes who is in the headlines.

In the case of the 22-year-old, though, it's not for any sporting achievements.

Patrick Mahomes' brother under investigation for alleged assault

According to the Kansas City Star, local police are investigating allegations that Jackson Mahomes assaulted a 19-year-old waiter and assaulted the 40-year-old owner of the same restaurant.

He is accused of forcibly kissing the owner, a woman, and police are studying surveillance camera footage which appears to have captured the incident.

He has denied these claims and his lawyer shared a statement with the Kansas City Star.

"Jackson has done nothing wrong," attorney Brandan Davies said.

"Our investigation has revealed substantial evidence refuting the claims of Jackson's accuser including the statements of several witnesses.

"We have reached out to law enforcement to provide the fruit of our investigation so that they may have a complete picture of the matter."

Will Jackson Mahomes antics hurt Patrick Mahomes' reputation?

Even though Patrick Mahomes hasn't yet commented on the incident in the restaurant, there are fears that the younger brother's antics could hurt the signal caller's reputation.

Beyond the assault allegations, Jackson Mahomes has also been getting into confrontations with rivals fans in stadiums and was a controversial figure even before these allegations came to light.

Although the QB and his wife Brittany Mahomes are staying silent on the matter so far, and going about their normal business, fans of the Chiefs have started campaigning to protect their star player's reputation.

"Now that there's confirmation of an investigation... just say Jackson Mahomes," Fox Sports' Harold R. Kuntz stated, trying to separate the two, at least in the media.

"His problems are on him and his actions are on him. No need for 'the brother of...'."

Another fan also tried to separate the two brothers and isolate the quarterback from his sibling's bad press.

"Jackson Mahomes has nothing to do with Patrick Mahomes or Brittany by the way," wrote Twitter user @TheDonPM.

Whether this works or not remains to be seen, but it's clear that Chiefs fans don't want anything to do with Jackson Mahomes, and don't want Patrick to be an indirect victim of his antics.
