Luka Doncic is accused of being a bad leader and out of shape

With the Dallas Mavericks looking set to miss out on the NBA playoffs, the post-mortem is already beginning and Luka Doncic is facing significant criticism.

The experiment with Kyrie Irving hasn't worked, but former NBA champion Kendrick Perkins is placing more blame on the Slovenian.

"When I watch Luka Doncic, I get so disturbed by his body language, not only towards the officiating but towards his teammates," Kendrick Perkins said on ESPN.

"There's the pout, the hanging of the head, going to the media. You talk about giving up 132. How many of those points were on you?

"When are you going be accountable? He could at least give effort.

"It's easy to say 'Oh it's Kyrie's fault or Jason Kidd doesn't know what he's doing.

"But at what point are we actually going to start to point the finger at Luka?

"About his bad habits as far as his poor leadership skills, about him not putting forth the effort defensively, about them having to worry about whether or not he's going to be in shape.

"Those things matter and, although he's going to go out there and he's going to give you 30, eight, and nine on a consistent basis, we get fooled by that.

"You watch the game where Luka is leaving his team out to dry.

"There are two ends of the floor and I think this is a growing process for Luka as far as being a leader and learning how to be the franchise guy."
