Masvidal retires from UFC and pays tribute to Donald Trump

Jorge Masvidal made plenty of different headlines after his defeat against Gilbert Burns as he announced his UFC retirement and addressed Donald Trump in the crowd.

The defeat in Miami came on Saturday night and it was by unanimous decision after a great display from Burns. Burns, of Brazil, secured his victory against Masvidal by unanimous decision, the judges scoring the fight 30-27, 30-27, 29-28 in his favor.

Masvidal spoke to Joe Rogan after the fight and he said: "I don't feel the same when I get in here no more. I love all of you. Thank you everybody for watching. This is where I started my career.

"Sometimes your favorite basketball player ain't got that three-pointer no more, your favorite quarterback loses that rifle. It's been 20-something years. I'm a multi-millionaire. I had nothing when I started. I'm out."

The fighter then turned his attention towards former US president Donald Trump who was in the crowd.

"I also just want to say the greatest president in the history of the world is sitting right there,' Masvidal said of Trump. "I love that guy."

Burns himself was quick to praise Masvidal. "We're here because of this guy, 52 pro fights," Burns said to the crowd, which chanted 'Let's go Jorge' throughout. "Give it up for your guy."

Masvidal was not done with his crowd-pleasing just yet as he then led a chant of 'Let's go Brandon' which the whole crowd joined in with. It reportedly stems from when an NBC reporter was interviewing NASCAR driver Brandon Brown and mistook a 'f**k Joe Biden' chant from the crowd as 'Let's go Brandon'.
