LeBron James: Docuseries about Lakers star in the works?

LeBron Jamesfans could be in for a treat in the near future, as a docuseries about theLakers superstar may be in the works.

The series could be produced by Andy Thompson, who was involved in ESPN's hit documentary The Last Dance, which chronicled the career of basketball legend Michael Jordan.

According to Lakers radio announcer John Ireland, Thompson has been spending a lot of time with the Lakers this season and may be collecting footage of James for a potential project. Thompson is the younger brother of Lakers commentator Mychal Thompson and the uncle of Warriors forward Klay Thompson.

"I hope I'm not talking out of school here, Andy Thompson... has spent a ton of time with us this year," Ireland said in an interview with Awful Announcing. "So, if LeBron ever wanted to go down this road, I think Andy is stockpiling that just so he has it and has the opportunity to tell the story."

Producer of 'The Last Dance' could be working on a documentary about LeBron James's career

Thompson was the driving force behind The Last Dance, which featured rare behind-the-scenes footage of Michael Jordan's final season with the Chicago Bulls. Ireland suggested that Thompson may be working on a similar project for the end of James's career, whenever that may be.

"If we go on a magical run to the title, Andy... most of the stuff you saw in those 10 episodes was shot by Andy Thompson," Ireland said. "And Andy's a smart guy, he's already working on, potentially, a story about the end of LeBron's run like he had one for the end of Jordan's run."

Although James is not expected to retire anytime soon, Thompson could be preparing for the future and gathering footage for a documentary about James's career, just as he did for Jordan. For fans of James, it would be a chance to relive some of his greatest moments and see behind-the-scenes glimpses of his life on and off the court.
