Christian Pulisic draws interest from France as speculation heats up over his future

Christian Pulisic is poised to be one of several players ushered out the door at Chelsea FC this summer -- and thanks to two sensational performances in the CONCACAF Nations League earlier this month, the price tag United States skipper might have a higher cost on it.

Several teams are jostling to sign Pulisic, who had a difficult season in the Premier League but showed his quality once again while on USMNT duty. One of the clubs interested in Puli appears to be a Ligue 1 powerhouse -- with American owners looking to make a statement signing.

Lyon in the fight for Pulisic?

According to L'Equipe, Olympique Lyonnais have joined the race for Pulisic, whose ownership group has likely watched a few of the 24-year-old's 57 national team appearances -- and seen many of his 23 goals.

American businessman John Textor became Lyon's new majority stakeholder in December and replaced longtime president Jean-Michel Aulas in May -- a shakeup that will likely prompt big changes at one of France's biggest clubs. Textor and his Eagle Football Group are reportedly seeking to capitalize on Chelsea's need to trim its squad and sign arguably the biggest American star to play for the seven-time Ligue 1 winners, but the deal won't be simple.

What is Pulisic's market value?

Interest in Pulisic has been wide-ranging over the past year, with clubs in Germany and Italy consistently linked with a move for the winger. There could even be English teams in the hunt for Puli -- including one owned by Textor and his group.

According to Transfermarkt, Pulisic has a market value of €25 million ($27.3 million) -- the lowest since he was an 18-year-old at Borussia Dortmund. With many clubs sniffing around the USMNT star, it remains to be seen if Lyon -- or anyone else -- will make an offer Chelsea can't refuse.
